Safe Rules for OWL 1.1 (Statement of Interest)
نویسنده
چکیده
The DL Safe SWRL Rules task force was tasked at OWLED 2007 to generate a proposal for how to add decidable and implementable rules to OWL in a manner consistent with the Semantic Web. This is the initial report from the task force.

DLRule: A Rule Editor plug-in for Protege
OWL is a very expressive language, but some user obviously struggle to formulate what they want to say. Now, some of these users may find it easier to write down a SWRL rule instead of an OWL axiom. Hence, we present a rule editor plug-in for Protégé that brings something different to rule and OWL integration. We part from the two usual approaches: (i) use it as is with say, Hoolet, knowing tha...
متن کاملApplication of OWL 1.1 to Systems Engineering (Statement of Interest)
Current systems engineering languages, standards, and tools are restricted in certain aspects of their expressiveness and do not provide formal semantics. While there is a long history of attempts to use formal methods for engineering, up to now the formalisms have generally proved too hard to use, and the tools do not scale for large complex system development. A semantic integration framework...
متن کاملQuery Answering for OWL-DL with Rules
Both OWL-DL and function-free Horn rules are decidable fragments of first-order logic with interesting, yet orthogonal expressive power. A combination of OWL-DL and rules is desirable for the Semantic Web; however, it might easily lead to the undecidability of interesting reasoning problems. Here, we present a decidable such combination where rules are required to be DL-safe: each variable in t...
متن کاملNominal Schemas for Integrating Rules and Ontologies
We propose a description-logic style extension of OWL DL, which includes DL-safe variable SWRL and seamlessly integrates datalog rules. Our language also sports a tractable fragment, which we call ELP 2, covering OWL EL, OWL RL, most of OWL QL, and variable restricted datalog.
متن کاملIntegrating OWL and Rules: A Syntax Proposal for Nominal Schemas
This paper proposes an addition to OWL 2 syntax to incorporate nominal schemas, which is a new description-logic style extension of OWL 2 which was recently proposed, and which makes is possible to express “variable nominal classes” within axioms in an OWL 2 ontology. Nominal schemas make it possible to express DL-safe rules of arbitrary arity within the extended OWL paradigm, hence covering th...
